Marble Niche and Motifs

These trompe l ‘oeil designs were hand painted onto the interior walls of Bellini Italian Restaurant in Center City, Philadelphia.

I thought it a nice idea to illustrate Bellini into a medallion portrait. After all, it is his restaurant. So I surprised him one day by painting it onto the main entrance column as you enter the restaurant. When he noticed it, he smiled and said, “I wondered why you took a picture of me when I walked by.” …I was just glad we both agreed it was a nice final touch.
